The Rulers Of Outworld Get Their Time To Shine In The Latest Mortal Kombat 1 Trailer

Kneel

Developer NetherRealm Studios debuted the latest trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 during Gamescom Opening Night Live, revealing two playable characters and two Kameo fighters.

The upcoming fighting game’s latest reveal trailer, Official Rulers of Outworld, follows the trend by drip-feeding us more of MK1’s story beats while confirming more roster members. This three-minute trailer confirms that Sindel, the hair commercial hall of famer and current Empress of Outworld, and General Shao, the former big bad of MK in timelines gone by, will be playable fighters alongside the previously revealed characters.

Sindel looks to be as rangy as ever, with her hair being used to grab and throw her opponent and her screeching ability making it difficult to close distance. General Shao (former Kahn) now wields a mighty axe in the place of his hammer, but he’s still a bruiser that’s slow-moving but devastatingly heavy-hitting. We also get to see more of Raiden’s moveset in this new trailer, which largely looks the same as MK11, though he does sport some nifty new projectile attacks.

This was also a fun trailer for Kameo fights, with Centaurian Motaro and former main man Shunjinko joining the assist list. Motaro is a massive, four-legged beast with a mechanical tail that was a sub-boss in Mortal Kombat 3 but hasn’t been playable since. Shunjinko, on the other hand, was the primary protagonist of Mortal Kombat: Deception’s Konquest Mode, wherein he goes on a quest to find the mystical items known as Kamidogu. While he was meant to be the new Lui Kang, poor old Shunjinko quickly faded into obscurity, but he’s back to lend a hand in MK1.
