I did not have “Incredible-looking Samurai Pizza Cats game announcement” on bingo card for the year 2025, but here we bloody well are.
In news that should melt any 90s kid’s cheese, developer BLAST ZERO has revealed it’s cooking up a brand-new title based on the 90s anime that frustratingly few people in my life remember as fondly as they should. Titled Samurai Pizza Cats: Blast from the Past!, it’s looking like a mash-up of 2D action platformer and isometric JRPG, with a gorgeous visual style that emulates the desaturated, cel-animated look of time.
Better yet, the studio has managed to reunite members of the original English and Japanese dub casts for all-new animated sequences with a script supervised by original screenplay writer, Satoru Akahori.
Currently, Samurai Pizza Cats: Blast from the Past! is slated for a 2026 release on “all major platforms,” and you can wishlist it on Steam right here.
