Troll and I Nintendo Switch Release Date Announced; Major Patch Announced For PS4, XB1 and PC

Troll and I, the cooperative adventure game from developer Spiral House will release for the Nintendo Switch on August 15 the game’s publisher, Maximum Games, announced yesterday.

Troll and I is the perfect first entry for us into the Nintendo Switch system. The cooperative gameplay lends itself perfectly to the local co-op features of the platform, where two friends can work together to battle the challenges they face as a team.

Furthermore, it was revealed that the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions of the game, which released on March 21 earlier this year, will be receiving a major patch on July 21. The patch will be implementing the following changes: addition of a mini-map; additional checkpoints; Easy, Normal and Hard difficulty settings; increased crafting speed; new tutorials; additional text hints; increased resources for crafting and survivability; overall balance improvements. The Nintendo Switch version of the game will also see these changes when it launches in August.

I reviewed the Xbox One version earlier this year and scored it a 2/10, stating the following:

Troll and I suffers from having champagne ambitions on a beer budget and is marred by a plethora of issues. Seriously subpar technical, design, narrative and gameplay elements make it a borderline insufferable experience, and as a result the game cannot be recommended to anyone at all, let alone at its AAA price

I highly recommend checking out reviews of the game before handing your money over. We will do our best to report on the impact of the changes in the upcoming patches.

For those interested, Troll and I is currently $28 at both JB and EB.
