Ubisoft Connect Offline For American Users, Meaning A Bunch Of Games Are Inaccessible

Hope you are playing on console, US friends

The age of ‘always online’ has spawned yet another wave of anger – this time with Ubisoft Connect (formerly Uplay) having some kind of massive outage that has left PC players of Ubisoft games high and dry.

So for all the Assassin’s Creed Shadows fans, you’ll need to find something else to do for a while.

At least in the age of ‘always online’, there are a plethora of tools – both official and third party – that will report what might be happening at any given moment.

I am no network engineer, but even I can tell you that terms like ‘outage’ and ‘degraded’ in regards to an online service isn’t a good look.

So of course, people are justifiably mad. When it comes to games with a proper online component, such as multiplayer or co-op services, you can understand why a network outage will kill off your chances to play.

But the PC users who are trying to play single player games are experiencing the full brunt of why ‘always online’ kind of ‘always sucks’:

At the time of writing, the ‘outage reports’ have started trending downwards as of the last 30 or so minutes – but social media posts are still coming in with people angry that they are stuck doing some frustratingly pointless troubleshooting for an issue that seems to be widespread.

In short – if you are in the US, and trying to launch a game via Ubisoft Connect, maybe step away and try again in a few minutes. Or an hour.
