Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Drops An Extended Gameplay Trailer

They should have brought more bugs

After a long day at work, some people crack a beer. I personally dive into a new Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 trailer, with an extended gameplay preview gracing our greasy eyeballs this day.

This gorgeous slice of dark future carnage shows us a few casual moments in the life of a Space Marine, and provides a proper look at the architecture of the 41st millennium. Many of the trailers so far had shown wider outdoor spaces – full of mud and grit, but here we get to have a peek at the brutalist dwellings of humanity.

And the terrifying bug-things that are besieging them.

The extended gameplay preview is eight minutes of genetically enhanced powerhousing, with Titus stomping through corridors and Tyranids alike. The sheer numbers of the attacking force seem positively insurmountable, but three armored super-humans cleave through their kind like a hot knife through butter. The poor regular dudes are lucky to have them on their side, even if the odd grenade toss from Titus might send a few of them scattering.

We also get a good look at the melee combat, with the awesome counter-attack system that will see you nab some lesser nasties and pummel them – one example being Titus tearing the scything limb off a larger beasty, and burying it into the fleshy sternum of the poor sucker. It was like poetry.

I am every kind of <synonym for excited> watching this game in action. I feel like I am beholden to some dark magics spawning a sequel to a long forgotten game for a franchise I love – but somehow it is delivering on all cylinders every time I witness it.

Bring on that release date – and impending beta!
