Warhorse Studios Is Funding The Restoration Of The Real-Life Pirkštejn Castle

The Kingdom Come: Deliverance devs are helping the history that helped their games

There’s currently a hefty discount on the Steam version of Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and the developers at Warhorse have felt that they can incentivise all the remaining fence sitters to perhaps jump in the saddle with one neat trick: Historical Reconstruction.

Pirkštejn Castle actually serves as a key location within the series with Warhorse being quite proud of their digital recreation – and now, as part of Steam Medieval fest, they are pledging one dollar from every sale will be donated to contribute to the ongoing restoration work:

It is worth noting that this offer is not targeting the lauded sequel to the game (Imaginatively titled Kingdom Come: Deliverance II) but that’s fine given the original game is also a highly appreciated banger.

A Czech website detailing some of the efforts was linked in the original post, and giving it a read you can become familiar with the scope of the restoration – including their hopes to fix the bell tower:

The castle bell tower, which dominates the entire structure, was in very poor condition. We managed to obtain a grant from the EU and the reconstruction began at the end of May 2025. However, we still need approximately CZK 2.5 million from our own resources to complete the project .

The real life Pirkštejn Castle definitely looks like a product of history, but you gotta admit that for a 670 year old structure she is looking pretty good:

Steam Medieval fest is running from now until the 28th April with Kingdom Come: Deliverance only costing a paltry $8.99AUD, so if you have ever felt like jumping into the Kingdom of Bohemia and perhaps contributing to the ongoing efforts to preserve history, now is the time. You can also gift it to your mates for the same benefit, should you wish.

If you find yourself wondering why you might want to preserve this bit of history, you can always check out our Talkthrough episode featuring Kingdom Come: Deliverance II to hear the devs geek out about how cool old stuff is, it’s a lark. Plus, you know, castles. They are awesome.
