Assassin’s Creed creator Patrice Désilets has finally announced his long-in-development title 1666: Amsterdam during Summer Game Fest, alongside a demo and an Early Access release on PC later this year.
For some, this will be the first time you’ll have heard of 1666: Amsterdam, but Désilets first began working on this project while still at Ubisoft. After his departure, Ubisoft owned the rights to the IP before the two parties agreed on a deal for Désilets to take ownership back. We covered the title way back in 2016.
1666: Amsterdam is a third-person action-adventure that sees you play as Noa Brooklyn, a Collector who boasts the power of witchcraft to take down Originals, entities that have walked amongst humans for centuries. But the game also has you play as Aaron, summoned from 1999 as…a cat. Both Noa and Aaron will offer two very different playstyles.
The game’s prologue is available to download on both Steam and Epic Games Store, and is a 30-minute look at what players can expect when it launches in Early Access later this year. A console release is planned for sometime in the future.
