A Horizon Zero Dawn Remake/Remaster For PS5 Is Reportedly In The Works Alongside A Multiplayer Title

A remake or remaster of Horizon Zero Dawn is apparently in development, according to a report from MP1st.

The report states that a source familiar with the project has revealed to MP1st that the project will bring the original game closer to the standard seen within Forbidden West, complete with improved lighting, textures, animations and character models. Atop this, the overhaul will allegedly include greater accessibility options, a range of graphical modes and improved gameplay.

The report also makes reference to an online multiplayer project set in the Horizon universe that’s also being worked on for PS5 and PC. Several MP1st’s sources claim that this multiplayer game is real and will feature customisation and potentially a co-op element.

There’s already been some discourse surrounding The Last of Us Part I, and whether or not a game released in 2013 needs a remake, so this will undoubtedly cause even more of a stir. Horizon Zero Dawn launched on PS4 in 2017, a mere five years ago, with its sequel only releasing earlier this year.

Similarly to The Last of Us, a Horizon TV series is in production, so it could be seen as a financial move on Sony’s part to revisit the original game and have it back on shelves when the series premieres, but that’s purely speculation at this point. Nothing has been made official regarding these claims yet, but it would be another step in a rather worrying direction for the gaming industry.
