It has long been a blocky pain in the butt to play Minecraft on a PS5 console – mostly due to the lack of a native client, with many players using the PS4 edition as a ‘good enough’ outcome. But, coming October 22 you will be able to immerse yourself into the 4k resolution and 60 fps bricky timesink – now with access to cross-play with friends across all Bedrock devices.

The best news is that if you already have Minecraft for PS4, you will be able to get the PS5 native version for free – just by jumping into the store to claim your digital copy.
There are a few claims online that the reason for the slow release is that Microsoft found themselves unable to claim PlayStation 5 Devkits from Sony, with the attitude being a little cagey on their part. Oh Sony, you rascally scamps – how could you deny the kids their Minecraft.
After all, the kids yearn for the mines.
