Kojima Productions has published a new teaser trailer for its upcoming horror game, OD.
Yesterday, the studio celebrated its tenth anniversary with a “Beyond the Strand” livestream, featuring special guests, reveals, and teases at upcoming projects. One of those reveals came in the form of a new trailer for the cryptic horror experience that Kojima announced back at The Game Awards in 2023. Outside of Kojima’s partnership with Xbox Game Studios, little has been revealed about OD, and we’re largely in the same place after this trailer, but we’ve got a vibe, and that vibe is tense and scary as hell.
The three-minute teaser trailer is exceptionally P.T.-coded, with a first-person perspective showing a woman opening the world’s creakiest door into a sparsely furnished room, only to light baby-shaped candles at a strange altar. Sounds of knocking at the door, crying babies, and what I think is a Geiger counter ratchet up the tension before the perspective shifts to reveal that actor Sophia Lillis portrays the woman. Known for her role as Beverley in It, Lillis appeared in the original teaser for OD, and it appears as though she’ll be the protagonist, or play an important role at the very least.
Her petrified expressions sell her fear as an unseen figure opens the door, approaches her, and grasps her head with overly large hands. It’s a trailer that’s incredibly light on detail, but bursting with atmosphere.

I’m among the many who mourn the loss of Silent Hills, the game Hideo Kojima was working on before his very public exit from Konami. P.T., the “playable teaser” intended to whet players’ appetites and give them a taste of what to expect from Silent Hills, may have been a demo, but it was so impactful that it altered the course of the horror genre for the ensuing decade. With the numerous high-profile closures and cancellations across Xbox’s portfolio, many have been rightfully concerned that OD may end up resembling Silent Hills, were it not for a report from Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier, claiming that Kojima’s project was not on the chopping block.
It may come as a surprise to hear that I’m excited for any project to come out of Kojima Productions, following my 10/10 review of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Even if that weren’t the case, this creepy trailer would have been enough to get me on board.
What are your thoughts on this new OD teaser?
