CD Projekt Red has announced that a new game in The Witcher series is currently in active development.
The announcement confirms that this new entry into the monster hunting RPG series will be “kicking off a new saga for the franchise.” It was also confirmed that this new Witcher game will be moving away from CD Projekt’s proprietary REDengine in favour of Unreal Engine 5. Additionally, this title will be the beginning of a “multi-year strategic partnership with Epic Games,” though it’s made explicitly clear that this won’t result in exclusivity and that the game will launch across multiple platforms.
There are no details on the game’s setting, plot or characters as of yet, but with the new saga wording, it seems likely that Geralt’s time as the series protagonist is at an end. Furthering that speculation, the medallion shown in the teaser image doesn’t belong to the School of the Wolf that Geralt is a member of, looking more like the School of the Cat, or even a new Witcher sect that we haven’t seen before.
