A Puzzling Transformers: Reactivate Screenshot Leak Is The Fuzziest Thing I Have Ever Seen

There is blurry, and then there is…that

In my newfound quest to figure out whether I should be excited for Transformers: Reactivate comes perhaps the crummiest leak I have ever witnessed.

I am used to grainy screenshots, or the odd Nintendo Uncle offering a ‘trust me bro’ reveal of details – but good lord, these fuzzy screenshots from ‘early in development’ are giving Bigfoot a run for his money on the ‘hard to discern’ front:

Eesh. These gameplay screenshots (Courtesy of RoboGamer1HD) had me reaching for my glasses – before I realised I was already wearing them. The level of blur on hand is enough to have me wondering if they are even remotely reputable, especially when anyone can type ‘Robot Shooting Game’ into an AI prompt and then heavily add some Gaussian Blur for mystique.

The ‘Gallery’ screenshot however, is crystal clear and does appear to offer some semblance of believability:

Showing a range of familiar robo-faces, this is information I can get behind. I am even thrilled to see a couple of newer jet-ladies in the mix, with both Windblade and Slipstream turning up. There is only one clear issue – this screenshot is dated October 2018, and the game has shifted quite a bit since then. In 2018, the title wasn’t even in the hands of current-developer Splash Damage (it was originally in the hands of Certain Affinity), with many observers measuring the tell-tale signs of development hell apparent well before it’s Game Awards unveiling.

While we may have a clear look at this screen, and even a possible visual style for the converting cybertronic humanoids – none of this is really solid evidence of what we can expect on release. For enthusiasts (or the obsessed, like me) all that can be done is wait for some solid media to be produced on the end of Splash Damage, to properly align expectations.

Can you make out anything interesting in these fuzz-screens? Let us know in the comments or on social media.
