The 2024 THQ Showcase is all wrapped up, but one small morsel of intrigue was dropped by way of a teeny tiny – but unmistakable – teaser.
That’s right, SOMETHING is coming for the Darksiders franchise – as to what, there is no way to be sure at this time.
Not even running as long as a minute, the teaser shows the primal lords of the four horseman dormant in their domain of fire. The charred council then roars to life, aflame and blazing to utter a single word: HORSEMEN.
Now, for speculation – there are no other characters, be they horsemen or demons to be seen, so you can’t quite nail who might be starring in this title. But! The developer logo for Gunfire Games is displayed on the end screen. Gunfire Games is an entity that is mostly made up of ex-Vigil Games staff, the original studio that created both Darksiders and Darksiders II. As Gunfire Games the studio was responsible for Darksiders III, so the announcement could well be alluding to another mainline entry into the franchise – rather than a side entry like the oh-so awesome Darksiders Genesis.
Via official channels, people close to the project have been quick to establish that they are not prepared to reveal anything else at this point – so more news will come when they are good and ready.
As a long term fan (read: fanatic) for the property, I am keen as mustard to see what new demonic nonsense may await in a new title – so if you will excuse me, I am off to ride this excitement for as long as I can.
