Dotemu, Guard Crush Games, and Supamonks dropped a free update for its critically acclaimed beat ’em up roguelite Absolum last week, adding a new game mode, new rewards and more to the game.
Titled Threads of Fate, the update’s new mode Mystic Ordeal will see players challenge themselves and one another once they defeat the final boss. This mode will allow users to play through the game with an additional set of challenges, such as disabling rewards earned at the end of a level. Furthermore, you can customise your challenge and share it with other players to test each other.
The update also adds:
- Corrupted regions with stronger enemies and greater rewards
- New Elite mounts
- New skins and emotes
You can read the full details about the update here.
While WellPlayed didn’t review Absolum when it released (shame on us), we absolutely loved it, so much that it was included in our Best Games We Didn’t Review in 2025 article. Trust me, if you’re a fan of brawlers, especially those with old-school flavour (think Streets of Rage, Golden Axe), then this should be on your radar.
