AFL 23’s Release Date Has Been Announced Alongside Some New Screenshots

Get ready for the big dance

Big Ant and the AFL have announced that AFL 23 will launch on April 13 on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.

AFL 23 is the first AFL game from Big Ant since it released AFL Live 2011, with Wicked Witch handling the last two AFL games, AFL Evolution and AFL Evolution 2.

Pre-orders are now available via the link in the above tweet and JB Hi-Fi, which has the game for $79. At the links you’ll also be able to view some new screenshots, featuring notable players and what looks like an intro of sorts.

On the JB Hi-Fi listing there is some more information on what players can expect from AFL 23.

  • Incorporates over 1200 players across the AFL/AFLW, with motion captured animation, photo-realistic likenesses, in depth skills and unique player traits powered by Champion Data.
  • Gameplay built on the bespoke Big Ant Studios’ Sports Engine, and featuring gameplans developed in association with AFL coaches to have players react as they would on the field.
  • Build your favourite AFL or AFLW club into a footballing powerhouse in the Management Career mode, overseeing drafting and player development, you’ll be in full control of your team’s path to the silverware.
  • Create your own clubs, players and stadiums, then share them with the world online. The renowned Big Ant Studios Academy tools come to an AFL game for the first time.
  • Take on all comers! Play with up to 4 local co-op players online, with crossplay enabled, to take on any challenger, anywhere.
  • Commentary featuring Anthony Hudson, Hamish McLachlan, Daisy Pearce, Daniel Harford, Kelli Underwood and Jason Bennett.
