After months and months of waiting and speculation, the much anticipated AFL Evolution 2 finally has a release date: April 23, 2020. The game will initially launch on PS4 and Xbox One, with a PC (Steam) release coming later in the season. Furthermore, the AFL also announced that the game’s cover will be graced by a new superstar: my mate and Carlton superstar Partick Cripps.
Cripps said that it was “cool” to be on the cover of AFL Evolution 2 and that a lot of players at the club enjoying gaming indicating there would likely be some competition for bragging rights.
Kyle Rogers, the Commercial General Manager at the AFL had this to say about the game:
The AFL is committed to making Australian Football accessible for everyone to enjoy and digital platforms such as AFL Evolution 2 is just one way which we can engage with our fans and strengthen their connection with our game, alongside their involvement either playing, watching or officiating the sport.
The release of the new AFL Evolution 2 game has been highly anticipated, so I’d like to thank Tru Blu Entertainment and Wicked Witch Software for their efforts in bringing the next installment to life.
On paper AFL Evolution 2 looks like a monumental upgrade to its predecessor, with new commentators in Anthony Hudson and Garry Lyon calling the play, an increase in stadiums and playable leagues.
We spoke with AFL Evolution 2’s game director last week in a candid interview that discussed gameplay improvements and the challenges of developing an AFL game.
