AFL Evolution To Release In First Half of 2017

That’s special

Earlier today the AFL and AFL Players’ Association in partnership with Tru Blu Entertainment formerly announced the existence of AFL Evolution, the next video game iteration of Australian Rules Football which is being developed by Melbourne’s very own, Wicked Witch Software, and will be available on PS4, Xbox One and PC in the first half of 2017.

AFL general manager of commercial operations Darren Birch had this to say about the upcoming video game:

…for some time the AFL has identified a need to create a new video game as another entertainment property for footy fans. AFL Evolution will deliver a unique experience for footy fans, taking them to the heart of the action in a virtual footy world. The AFL is dedicated to supporting Tru Blu Entertainment and Wicked Witch Software in creating a game that is fun to play for AFL fans and keen gamers alike.

Wicked Witch are aiming to make the most realistic AFL experience ever and one way they are hoping to do this by having highly accurate player models. All 18 clubs and its players have participated in photo shoots with 24 cameras being used simultaneously to photograph the players in order to recreate the most realistic looking players yet. Check out some of the impressive looking players below:

Fans can have their say on who graces the front of AFL Evolution, with a selection of budding stars to choose from. Marcus Bontempelli of the Western Bulldogs is the current leader with 39% of the current votes, with the next best being Carlton’s Patrick Cripps and Essendon’s Zach Merrett on 8%.
