By this point I am sure everyone has imbibed the Minecraft film trailer, with us here at WellPlayed even sharing the sentiment that it looked somewhat nightmarish to behold. There is something off-putting about the super RTX-enabled world mixed with actual, real-life human beings.
So imagine the joy when I saw that someone had taken the time to fix the issue – by simply animating the trailer with more traditional Minecraft-styled aesthetics:
Alumio is a a collective of talented animators that make a great many videos with the signature style of Minecraft blocks – mostly interpreting iconic Five Nights at Freddy’s characters into various music videos and shorts.
However, in a three days the Alumio crew actually remade the Minecraft teaser, shot for shot, and created something that doesn’t trigger my ICK reflex. Even the awkward nature of the comedy seems to land a little better when it’s block people dropping the punchlines – though I will admit, it’s hard to capture some of those exceptional Jason Momoa expressions.
So, if you are after a palette cleanser after seeing the oddity that was the Minecraft Film Teaser, maybe give the Alumio version a crack and see if it disables the panic response.
How do you feel about hyper-realistic blocky sheep? Does it do anything for you? What about a more traditionally styled Minecraft adventure? Let us know in the comments or on social media.
