Aussie-Made World War 1 Survival Horror Conscript Gets A July Release Date

Enlist today

Melbourne-based developer Catchweight Studio and Team17 have announced its World War 1 survival horror title Conscript has been given a release date of July 23 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch and PC.

Heavily inspired by Resident Evil, Conscript is the debut game from Jordan Mochi’s Catchweight Studio and sees players take on the role of a French soldier who embarks on a journey to find their missing brother during the Battle of Verdun in 1916. Players must manage their items carefully, solve complex environmental puzzles and fend off enemy soldiers with various guns and melee weapons if they are to survive and bring their brother home safely.

Mochi told WellPlayed in 2021 that development started on the project in 2017, but since then the game has come a long way, improving in every facet thanks to the backing of Team17, which has allowed Mochi to take his time and get things right. Our latest hands-on with the game at PAX Aus 2023 highlighted just how much the extra development time has been worth it and what a treat survival horror fans are in for.

Players who want to get a taste of Conscript’s survival horror warfare can download the game’s Steam Next Fest demo now, which gives players access to the beginning of the campaign. Pre-orders are open now for those who want to pre-pay on PlayStation and Xbox consoles, while pre-orders will open on Nintendo Switch on June 25.

Conscript has been on our radar for a long time and we’re excited that it finally has a release date. Are you excited for the release of Conscript? Let us know in the comments or on social media.
