Aussie WWE Superstar Rhea Ripley Is Coming To Call Of Duty Alongside Cody Rhodes And Rey Mysterio

Mami is always on top

Three WWE wrestlers, Adelaide’s own Rhea Ripley, Cody Rhodes, and Rey Mysterio, will appear in Call of Duty as operator skins on July 25.

Activision has revealed the season five content for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III and Call of Duty: Warzone, which includes new maps, weapons, customisation options, modes, and gameplay features. This is all fine and dandy, but it’s not what we’re here to talk about. A partnership with WWE is running during season five, resulting in the aforementioned skins, as well as a limited-time mode.

Starting July 31, the tie-in game mode is called Deathmatch Slam, which will play out like a standard round of Deathmatch but with a sports entertainment twist. Instead of killing your opponents, damage from ballistics will only knock them down, requiring you to put them down for the three-count with a finishing move to net the kill. A random finisher will play out from a selection specific to the event. In the trailer, we can see a Pop-Up Powerbomb, a Cross Rhodes, an Elbow Drop, a Punt Kick and a Bulldog.

Let’s be honest, though, we’re here to talk about playing as The Nightmare. Unlike her two counterparts, Rhea is baked into this season’s battle pass. Purchasing the battle pass will give you instant access to the “Mami” Operator Skin, which, I assume, means that you’ll always be on top (of the scoreboard). As you make your way through the tiers, you’ll have the chance to unlock two additional skins for The Dominator, all so you can force your foes to confront Judgement Day. All of my wonderful wrestling-themed puns aside, it’s incredible to see Rhea absolutely smashing it, both in the ring and in pop culture.

I suppose you could choose to play as the current WWE Champion or the greatest luchador of all time as well, I suppose. Both Cody Rhodes and Rey Mysterio will be available as separate purchases, both as packs that include weapon charms, decals, finishing moves and other goodies.

Here’s what you can find in each bundle:

  • The “Tracer Pack: WWE — Cody Rhodes” Operator Bundle comes with the “American Nightmare” Operator Skin plus two stars and stripes-themed Weapon Blueprints, a Weapon Charm, Weapon Sticker, Large Decal, Loading Screen, and the “Cross Rhodes” Finishing Move.
  • The “Tracer Pack: WWE — Rey Mysterio” Operator Bundle includes “The Ultimate Underdog” Operator Skin plus two red and black Weapon Blueprints and a Weapon Charm, Weapon Sticker, Large Decal, Loading Screen, and the “Mysterio Bulldog” Finishing Move.

We don’t have an exact price for these bundles yet, but based on similar packs currently available, expect to pay around $30 each.

I’m far removed from the Call of Duty sphere, but a cheeky wrestling tie-in might be enough to have me dipping my beak in for a look. Even if Warzone and Modern Warfare III don’t tick my boxes, Black Ops 6 is shaping up to be an entry not to miss. Thankfully, there are two beta periods on the horizon.
