Battlefield 2042 Season 5: New Dawn Will Introduce A New Map, New Weapons And More

A New Dawn, a new day

EA and DICE have announced Battlefield 2042 Season Five, titled New Dawn, which will go live on June 7.

The fifth season of the online shooter will introduce a number of quality of life improvements, including an overhaul to squad management, as well as heaps of new content and a new ballte pass.

New Dawn will bring with it a new map named Reclaimed, set in the European country of Czechia. Much like this season as a whole, Reclaimed sets out to be a map that focuses on mixing vehicle and infantry combat. Combining open areas that are perfect for vehicular meyhem, like the Crash Site, with tight, close-quarters flags like The Bunker, Reclaimed should result in some very varied fights.

Season Five is also bringing the noise when it comes to gadgets and weaponry. Fans of long-range encounters will look to the new bolt-action rifle, the XCE BAR, while those who are looking for a more versatile gun will want to pop the GEW-46 assault rifle into their loadout. This is a reworked, modernised version of the G3-6C, which was my go-to weapon in Battlefield 3, so I’m a happy man. Lastly, the BFP.50 is a hand cannon that will blow away your enemy and your wrist.

Accompanying the new weapons, are a range of spiffy new gadgets. The Spring grenade does what it says on the tin, bouncing into the air before detinating, while the AT (anti-tank) grenade…does what it says on the tin, inflicting higher damage to tanks and other vehicles. Lastly, the Mini grenade will be a new option that trades stopping power for a quicker and more powerful throw that will reach a further distance.

It wouldn’t be a new season of a multiplayer game without a fresh battle pass now, would it? New Dawn’s battle pass introduces two new factions that dominate the cosmetic options, one taking on a high-tech look, while the other looks more tribal and savage.

The quality of life changes will see the Hourglass map getting a rework, making it smaller and more direct. Also, as previously mention, 2042 will soon have a greatly improved squad management system, similar to how it was ewalt with in previous installments. Players will now be able to view their current squad, change leadership,  use squad orders and switch to others if desired.
