Battlefield Studios and EA have detailed the limited-time seasonal content added to Battlefield 6 with today’s Winter Offensive update.
The next step in Battlefield 6’s post-release content rollout is here, and it’s a snowy seasonal update. Capping off the current content roadmap is Winter Offensive, a limited-time update that overhauls the Empire State map, introduces new twists on existing modes, and offers up a new melee weapon for players to unlock through a new unlock path.
Stay frosty, New York ❄️
Winter Offensive is live and has the city under ice in #Battlefield6 and #REDSEC.

The main draw for Winter Offensive is the ICe Lock takeover of Empire State, which covers the entire Brooklyn map in a blanket of snow, ready for the holiday festivities. Along with the visual changes, a new limited-time mode has been added to mix things up further. Altered versions of Conquest and Domination are available that utilise a Freeze mechanic, wherein players will begin to succumb to below-zero temperatures around control points. To avoid freezing, players will need to sprint, use Adrenaline Boosters, or stick to fires or other heat spots to stay warm.
The Ice Lock mechanic will also be making its way to Gauntlet, adding another layer of challenge to an already brutal game mode. Winter Offensive will also come with a Bonus Path offering unlockables, including an ice pick melee weapon ready to be unlocked and used. Lastly, if you’re someone who likes to tinker with Portal, you’ll be able to add the Freeze mechanic to your toolbelt from today to create new and ridiculous experiences.
