Many video game enjoyers today were happy to see that Head of Xbox Phil Spencer was openly broadcasting a commitment to keep the Call of Duty franchise on their platform of choice.
That is, of course, if your consoles of choice were Steam and Nintendo hardware:
I'm also pleased to confirm that Microsoft has committed to continue to offer Call of Duty on @Steam simultaneously to Xbox after we have closed the merger with Activision Blizzard King. @ATVI_AB @ValveSoftware

A great deal of speculation has been rife across the internet with regard to the absence of a Sony-flavoured announcement, with many hushed tones considering this to be Microsoft’s master plan to finally win the age-old ‘Console Wars’.
However, Vice Chair and President of Microsoft, Brad Smith, was happy to shoot straight with a statement that they are happy to “sit down and talk” with Sony and come to a similar arrangement:
Our acquisition will bring Call of Duty to more gamers and more platforms than ever before. That's good for competition and good for consumers. Thank you @Nintendo. Any day @Sony wants to sit down and talk, we'll be happy to hammer out a 10-year deal for PlayStation as well. https://t.co/m1IQxdeo6n

A juggernaut franchise like Call of Duty is a major player in the gaming landscape, so commitments such as these do a lot to quell the concerns of players who may have a particular preference for a home console – and a ten-year promise is at least ten more years where you don’t need to consider switching it up.
For many, the eye is now squarely on how communications go with Sony – especially considering how vocal that has been in relation to the Microsoft/Blizzard merger, specifically with regards to Call of Duty.
