The amazing war on Call of Duty cheaters continues – but this time instead of having some fun with the cheating parties, they have been banished to the shadow realm.
The @CODUpdates user account made the incredible announcement prior to the weekend, claiming that an impressively girthy 14,000 accounts had been banned over a 24 hour period:

In the last 24 hours, new detections directly targeting cheat developers at the source has led to over 14,000 account bans for cheating and hacking in Modern Warfare II and Warzone.
Online discussion regarding this cheater account genocide seems to suggest that it was heavily targeting two prevalent cheating tool providers, meaning that a fair amount of homework was likely done before hand to really narrow the scope of targets.
Still, it’s amazing to thinking that a ‘narrow scope’ could equate to the entire population of a generously large rural town. I knew cheating was pretty rampant in these games, but it’s shocking to think that this ban wave isn’t even considered to be all that encompassing.
For those that remain unbanned and running wild, the Ricochet anti-cheat system is still doing it’s thing – detecting cheaters and making their life a comedically awful experience. Everything from reducing cheater damage to zero, hallucinations and even making them drop their guns randomly; it’s a system that sounds fantastically entertaining. Check out my other article where I gush about how fun it all sounds: Call Of Duty’s Diabolical Anti-Cheat Makes The Cheater Hallucinate.
For now though, rest easy knowing that at least 14,000 cheaters are now scrambling to get new accounts for their dastardly exploits. You may just have a few hours of peace.
