Crystal Dynamics Announces The End Of Support For Marvel’s Avengers

Not marvellous news

Crystal Dynamics has announced that it will no longer be supporting Marvel’s Avengers after September 30, 2023, and that no new content will be coming to the game after Update 2.8 drops on March 30, 2023.

The news was posted to the game’s website, which buckled under the amount of traffic, with the statement saying that “The decision was made in conjunction with our partners that now was the right time to make this change.”

When Update 2.8 does release, items in the game’s Marketplace will no longer be available for purchase, instead all the Marketplace, Challenge Card, and Shipment cosmetic content will be available to all players who own the title. All credits will be converted into in-game resources for players to use on their heroes.

Furthermore, the post goes on to confirm that both single-player and multiplayer will be playable post September 30, and those who wish to purchase them game digitally can do so until support ends.

While it’s disappointing for fans of the game, the news doesn’t really come as a shock, with Marvel’s Avengers struggling ever since it launched on September 4, 2020. WellPlayed’s Adam Ryan scored it a 7.5 in his review, writing that “The technical issues and repetition of Marvel’s Avengers are a drag, but they don’t eclipse the deep combat and exceptional campaign.”
