Destiny 2 PC Beta Preloads Are Live

HDR will be available to test out too

Just last month Xbox One and PS4 players were given the opportunity to play the beta for Destiny 2. While there was a lot of talk from people saying it plays the same (almost like it’s a sequel building on the successes of its predecessor), the general consensus was the game felt like it was much more refined and tuned. Well it’s time for the PC players to step in to the spotlight and get ready for the Destiny 2 PC beta. Overnight, preloads for the game’s beta went live as we approach the launch of the beta itself. For those whom have preordered the game and put in their codes distributed at bungie.net (or preordered directly at battlenet itself) you are able to download the game files for the beta and have it ready when it becomes ready to play on August 28 (I’d assume early morning August 29 for us).

So for those whom are a little unfamiliar with redeeming codes at bungie.net, just follow these simple instructions. Please note that in order to complete this process you will need to link your battlenet account to the Bungie service, this is done by just logging in to your battlenet account through the Bungie website:

  1. Log in to bungie.net
  2. Click your profile icon on the top right which bring up a menu tab
  3. Click “redeem codes” which will take you to a new page. If you haven’t put in the code distributed to you by your given retailer, this is where you do it
  4. Scroll down until you see the yellow “my code history” tab and click it. This will load up a new page which will display all the codes you have ever redeemed via the Bungie website
  5. Here you will be given an option to redeem the beta code. Once you have done this you will be given a 21-digit code
  6. Open the Blizzard app
  7. Click on the Destiny 2 tab (it’ll be the one at the bottom) and click “redeem a code”
  8. Put in your 21-digit code. After this, you should be able to preload the beta and have it ready by the time it opens for people who preordered

That’s surprisingly quick for my Internet

The game files take up 16gb, so do keep that in mind. The beta begins on August 28 for those who preorder and then opens up for everyone on August 29, a mere day later. The beta will run until August 31, however the likelihood of Bungie extending the beta is probably high given their affinity for extending beta dates.

There are obviously system requirements, but no you aren’t required to have the beefiest PC made by man (though that would be cool):

Minimum Requirements:

  • Operating System: Windows 7/Windows 8/Windows 10 64-bit (latest Service Pack)
  • CPU: Intel Core i3-3250 or AMD FX-4350
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 or ATI Radeon HD 7850
  • Memory: 6 GB RAM

Recommended Specifications:

  • Operating System: Windows 7/Windows 8/Windows 10 64-bit (latest Service Pack)
  • CPU: Intel Core i5 2400 or AMD Ryzen R5 1600X or better
  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 or AMD Radeon R9 390 or better
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
