Diablo IV Made A Sinfully Sensational $666 Million Dollars In Its First 5 Days

A record-setting launch

Diablo IV is now properly out and in the hot hands of many adventurers – with some stunning facts and figures trickling in to really capture the scale of the release. Absolutely nutty statistics address the amount of people playing, slaying and perishing across sanctuary – and then there is one astronomical figure that dwarfs them all.

The game has made a staggering amount of cash from its sales – a spectacularly appropriate figure to the sum of $666 million in global sell-through in the first five days following its launch.

Some of the other stellar facts that Blizzard has reported from the global gameplay release include:

  • 276 billion demons killed since Early Access: nearly 35 times the global population.
  • Players have been vanquished over 316 million times.
  • …over 5 million of those vanquishings were at the hands of the Butcher.
  • But they’re not falling alone – players have created a party with friends over 166 million times.
  • 163 players have made it to the maximum level in Hardcore mode, where deaths are permanent.

The Butcher is absolutely putting in work. Similarly, the Hardcore community has achieved some truly monumental accolades by managing to dodge ol’ Butchy long enough to reach max level. That in itself is an achievement.

This is all in the initial 5 days of proper release, so I can assume we will see some terrifyingly staggering figures as time marches on.
