Ed Boon has cursed us all with a look at the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 guest character, the insecure muppet antagonist Homelander from Amazon’s ‘The Boys’.
And while I am numb to the meaty gore of the Mortal Kombat’s violence, slurping stunningly rendered milk was more than enough to give me a serious case of the ick:

While the star-spangled shitlord looks impressive, touting all of his signature death dealing doodads (laser eyes, unchecked brutal force) the sad reality is that the voice actor appears to be a soundalike, rather than the incredible Anthony Starr that brings him to life on the screen. All manner of reasons and rumours have circulated as to why – and the MK team has even been careful to show off prior teasers without any voice work, but here in the twilight before the big blonde guy makes his way to the game proper seems to show that they just couldn’t work it out. Shame.
Also shown off is a forgotten friend from the days of Mortal Kombat XL – the diminutive and amazing Ferra makes their debut as an upcoming Kameo character. Ferra was one half of the tandem character Ferra/Torr, riding on the back of the brutish Torr and fighting as a single character. In MK1 Ferra seems to be doing similar – with a screenshot shared to social media showing Ferra riding on Scorpion’s back of all people. Neat.
As a first look teaser, we only get a quick peek at what is to come – a handy little taste to perhaps help with marketing a new season of The Boys, which premieres June 13.
So that throwdown between Homelander and Omni-Man is right around the corner – place your bets, we’re getting into serious fanboy debating territory.
What do you think of the Homelander tease? Is he as pathetic as you’d hoped? Let us know in the comments or on social media.
