Disney Lorcana: Fabled Exclusive Card Preview – A Stealthy Daisy Duck Reprint

Nice card, Daisy Duck, makes the players go…

Disney Lorcana might only be approaching its second birthday as a Trading Card Game, but it’s already heading into a major shake-up with its ninth (!) set, Fabled, due to launch very soon on August 29th (September 5th for mass retail).

This latest expansion marks some pretty significant changes to Disney and Ravensburger’s successful foray into the competitive TCG market, not only introducing two entirely new card rarities but making the bold move to “rotate” the first four of the game’s sets out of competitive legality.

That’s essentially half of the current card pool wiped from play in one go, which is pretty hectic. But that’s not to say there’s not a future for a huge number of those fallen, animated soldiers – because reprints are on the way!

Starting with Fabled, you’ll start to see a number of Lorcana set 1-4 cards return as reprints in new sets, with more than 50% of Fabled being made up of reprints. These are, for all intents and purposes, exact copies of the older versions with the same art, stats and flavour text. The only change will be the set number printed on the bottom left, and that’s what’ll determine their validity in the Core Constructed format.

And so it’s with this in mind that we bring good news to anyone for whom Daisy Duck – Musketeer Spy is a crucial part of their favourite deck… she’s back!

We can exclusively reveal that this is one of the cards being reprinted for Fabled, sporting the new set number of 11/204.

Originally hailing from the game’s fourth expansion, Ursula’s Return, Daisy Duck – Musketeer Spy is a four-cost Dreamborn Hero Musketeer card with two strength and three willpower. Her ability, Infiltration, means that when Daisy Duck – Musketeer Spy is played, each opponent chooses and discards a card.

This is a card that really didn’t enter the meta when it first arrived, but has managed to find its way in with later sets, so perhaps now we’ll see a resurgence for this iteration of Daisy. Time will tell!

But what about the older version of this card? It’s fairly inexpensive on the resale market, so is it worth picking up? That depends! While it’s no longer legal in the standard tournament format, the new Infinity Constructed format will be the go-to for players who want to continue using cards that have already been rotated out – even if they’re not reprinted in newer sets.

Oh, and any reprints that were previously available in the super-rare Enchanted treatment won’t be back as Enchanted cards again, which means they’ll retain their worth as prized collector’s items. That said, some reprints that weren’t Enchanted before may appear that way now, along with the two new rarities being introduced in Fabled – Epic and Iconic.

Epic cards will sit between Legendary and Enchanted in terms of rarity, featuring frameless art, a rainbow foil finish and more, while Iconic cards will be the rarest of all with only two cards per set getting the treatment. These will sport gorgeous, full-card artwork along with a unique foil pattern and 3D hot stamping – in other words, they’re gonna be glorious.

I’ll be honest, I’m most excited about the prospect of A Goofy Movie joining the Lorcana line-up in Fabled, but between the shake-ups to the core game and these stunning new rarities, this should be a great time for fans of the game.
