Dragon Age: Dreadwolf Has Been Renamed Dragon Age: The Veilguard; Gameplay Revealing Coming Next Week

There’s no Dreadwolf in team

Developer BioWare has announced that its upcoming RPG has been renamed and will now be titled Dragon Age: The Veilguard, with the game’s first gameplay trailer confirmed for June 12.

Detailed within a blog post on the BioWare website, the anticipated RPG, formerly known as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, has received a name change to better reflect “what the game is all about.” The original title was in reference to Solas, a companion in Inquisition that was eventually revealed to be the god Fen’Harel, a major antagonist that would play a vital role in this sequel. While BioWare has made it clear that the aforementioned Dread Wolf will be at the centre of the game’s story, the team believe that the title should represent the true focus of the Dragon Age series: Your Companions.

“Each of the seven unique characters that make up your companions will have deep and compelling storylines where the decisions you make will impact your relationships with them – as well as their lives. You’ll unite this team of unforgettable heroes as you take on a terrifying new threat unleashed on the world. Naturally, the Dread Wolf still has an important part in this tale, but you and your companions – not your enemies – are the heart of this new experience.”

The second half of this announcement will be exciting for fans of the series who have patiently awaited the next instalment. On June 12 at 1am AEST,  a 15-minute first look at gameplay for Dragon Age: The Veilguard will debut on the Dragon Age YouTube channel.

Dreadwolf is a badarse subtitle, and The Veilguard doesn’t quite have the same ring to it, but ensuring that the game’s name represents its content makes a lot of sense.
