Eminem Enters Fortnite, Immediately Gets Overshadowed By Mom’s Spaghetti

The undisputed master of pasta has delivered

The dystopian living billboard of Fortnite claimed another soul this week, with the addition of the Real Slim Shady, Eminem, to the battle royale.

He’s hardly the first music artist to step foot into the game (Ariana Grande, Anderson Paak and Travis Scott come to mind without even needing to Google) but he may well be the first one to drop off the battle bus with an edible cornerstone of internet meme culture.

Ladies and gentlemen, Marshall Mathers has brought us all the one thing that was lacking from gaming: Mom’s Spaghetti.

The spaghetti might be hot, but the reactions are hotter. People were excited for the acclaimed hip hop artist to bring his range of oddball personas to the game, but the pasta may be all that matters. For some, it almost makes up for the fact that the Eminem content drop came without a unique emote option or album tease; they were content enough to settle for mediocre meatballs (just the way Mum used to make).

Of course the bundle does deliver on a range of classic Eminem history, with skins from different eras of his career – and even a double chainsaw gathering tool for the sake of roleplaying as Slim Shady himself.

What a world we are living in. My daily ambivalence towards the Fortnite experience is neither positive nor negative, but every now and then something comes along that tugs at me to perhaps reinstall the bastard and get back into the failure zone.

And right now it’s leftover spaghetti. Well played, Epic Games. Well played.
