In what is probably one of the least surprising pieces of news, PlayStation and Sony Santa Monica have delayed God of War: Ragnarok from its initial 2021 release window to 2022.
The announcement was made via social channels and says that “We remain focused on delivering a top-quality game while maintaining the safety and wellbeing of our team, creative partners, and families. With this in mind, we’ve made the decision to shift out release window to 2022.”

Furthermore, in classic PlayStation style, the head of PlayStation Studios, Hermen Hulst, revealed in an interview posted to the PlayStation Blog that God of War: Ragnarok will also be gracing the PS4 with its presence.
“Where it makes sense to develop a title for both PS4 and PS5 — for Horizon Forbidden West, the next God of War, GT7 — we’ll continue looking at that. And if PS4 owners want to play that game, then they can. If they want to go on and play the PS5 version, that game will be there for them.”
God of War: Raganarok was first announced in September 2020 and joins Gran Turismo 7 as the second big PlayStation title to be delayed from 2021 into 2021. Hulst did confirm that PlayStation is still aiming to release Horizon Forbidden West this year, however whether it does will depend on a few factors.
