Overwatch 2’s fifth season is upon us, and keeping with the strong theming that has been present so far we are getting classic fantasy.
Everything swords and sorcery, clattering dice and critical hits are presented in a groovy new season of content that leans heavily on the coolest tabletop tropes that help us escape from our IRL drudgery:
With a slew of fantasy skins available in both the Battle Pass and the in-game store, the real meat of this season is a crazy range of original in game content to jump into – with past favourites like the Summer Games returning, with a new Volleyball mode as well.
We are also getting two original game modes for the season, with the first being a collaboration with a hotshot Overwatch Workshop Creator known as CactusPuppy who has created a 1v4 deathmatch called ‘Defeat the Demon Lord’. Can you gather 3 mates to take on Demon Lord Reinhardt and save the realm?
The other is a deadset classic, with the fantastic format of PROP HUNT coming to Overwatch in the form of it’s Mischief and Magic game mode. For any who may not have experienced the brilliant fun of such a game mode, basically it is hide and seek where one team are disguised as objects and have to camouflage themselves in the game world, with a team of hunters trying to uncover which objects are mundane and which are mischievous. It’s a blast of a time, and I sincerely hope it’s a hit within Overwatch 2.
I will absolutely be marketing my calendar to jump in and try these madcap modes – some of my favourite Overwatch content is the co-operative, silly variety.
