Here Is Every Game Announcement From The PlayStation 5 Event

All the reveals in one place

Sony kicked the doors down and came out guns blazing during this yesterday’s PS5 reveal event, showing off a total of 28 games, some new IPs, some exclusive, some indie, some first-party and some third-party. It was a cavalcade of games that showed Sony’s commitment to ensuring the PS5 is the place to play.

If you missed all the announcements not to worry, below you’ll find a summary of every game announcement, AAA or indie, that was on display. Just so we don’t give you half-arsed definitions of the games that were shown off, the descriptions have been lifted from the corresponding YouTube trailer or the PlayStation website. But we’ll give you our thoughts on every announcement just so it’s not pure marketing spin.

What is it: A new Marvel’s Spider-Man adventure from Insomniac Games coming to PlayStation 5.

When is it coming: Shoot that web in 2020.

What is it: Returnal combines action with roguelike gameplay into a third-person shooter where players fight to survive a hostile planet that changes with every death. Players can switch instinctively between firing modes by using a single adaptive trigger and can get right back into the action after dying. PS5’s immersive 3D audio brings the alien world to life around the player, helping players navigate the intense positional combat. Coming to PlayStation 5.

When is it coming: Next-gen sometime.

Oddworld Soulstorm represents a big visual and cinematic leap aiming that breaks new ground for Oddworld. With intelligent new mechanics and twisted new devices which enable highly explosive deviousness. This is a dark parable that tells an epic tale of a volatile society pushed to its limits.

When is it coming: If this doesn’t release in 2021 I’m convinced there is no game at all.

Our Thoughts: It’s been on our radars for so long and the fact that it still has no release date hurts. But boy does it look good!

JETT: The Far Shore

What is it: JETT: The Far Shore invites you on an interstellar trip to carve out a future for a people haunted by oblivion in this cinematic action adventure coming Holiday 2020 on the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.

As Colt, you’ll have to take out eight targets – including your arch-nemesis Julianna Blake – if you ever want to escape. But remember: It’s a timeloop, so if at first you don’t succeed… die, die again.

When is it coming: Launching exclusively (for the time being) on PS4 and PC in holiday 2020.

When is it coming: Hitting next-gen and PC in 2021.

Our Thoughts: Werewolves, the occult, castle and a creepy village? Where do I sign up?

What is it: Well, if we’re being honest, we don’t know. The trailer depicts a man in a bulky spacesuit, investigating a city street with some high-tech gizmos before meeting up with a hologram little girl and being flung into space. A good helping of Death Stranding vibes, a pinch of Bioshock, garnished with an ending shot of the two characters on the moon. Sounds tasty.
