Hollywood and the Mortal Kombat franchise have had a topsy-turvy relationship over the last twenty-ish years. Many people straight-up despise the 90s MK movies for their absurd stories and questionable production choices, but those reasons are exactly why some people absolutely love them. Either way, fans of either the films or the games should be excited for the upcoming reboot film, simply titled Mortal Kombat.
Today, we have our first glimpse at the movie via production stills from the official Mortal Kombat Movie Twitter page. We get a good look at Lui Kang, Kung Lau, Kano, Jax, Sonya Blade, Sub-Zero, Scorpion and the movie’s protagonist, Cole Young.

Mortal Kombat will release in cinemas and HBO Max on April 16.
