Hollywood 1947 Is A Star-Studded Social Deduction Game Coming To Kickstarter In January

ACTION!

Facade Games has announced Hollywood 1947, a social deduction tabletop game set to launch on Kickstarter on January 17, 2022.

Hollywood 1947 sees one to nine players taking on various roles in a movie studio in the year 1947. While the majority will be patriots, a select few players will be communists, looking to push their own agenda and sneak un-patriotic imagery into the films. Whether you’re a Producer, Director, Gaffer or Actor, each player will have their own ability, like the Cinematographer being able to force a player to discard their hand and draw three new cards.

Each round, a new movie will be made that starts off leaning towards either the patriotic or communist side. During the round, players roll their own dice, hoping to get a star that will allow them to play a card that will push their secret objective (patriot or communist). Players can either use their ability or re-roll any two dice in the game, be their own or another player’s, in hopes of influencing the cards that are put in at the end of the round.

Any player with a star showing on their dice at the end of the round will secretly put in a patriot or communist card. These cards are shuffled, one is randomly removed, and then they’re revealed. The side that holds the majority will then win. The first team to successfully influence four films wins. There’s plenty of lying, bluffing and backstabbing involved, but the rules are fairly simple, with Facade Games stating that most players can learn it in about ten minutes.
