Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Calamity Is Coming To Switch This November

Just a few Bokoblins, no worries mate

Nintendo has surprised us once again with another announcement trailer appearing out of nowhere. This time it comes from the Zelda team, with an update from Producer Eiji Aonuma telling us the Zelda team is working hard to make the vast world we enjoyed in Breath of the Wild even more amazing and the development of the Breath of the Wild sequel will take a bit more time. This not surprising with COVID-19, though I know we all wish we had it now.

In the mean time, the Zelda team has created a new way for us to enjoy the world of Hyrule. Set 100 years ago before the events in BOTW when Calamity Gannon was wreaking havoc and Hyrule was covered by darkness, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is being developed by Koei Tecmo Games and is a new game in the Hyrule Warriors series. Players will get to participate in epic battles against a backdrop of memorable locations around Hyrule before they were destroyed as we know them in BOTW. The game retains the distinctive gameplay style of the Warrior’s series (combos and over-the-top special abilities with face-paced and strategic gameplay), with a wide variety of characters including Link, Zelda, as well as other recognisable characters like the four champions who will be playable for the first time. The game tells and in-depth story with many dramatic moments of the Great Calamity, but also retains many key features of BOTW such as solving environmental puzzles, unlocking weapons and skills, crafting and gathering materials and the Shiekah Slate returns as well. The Zelda team were closely involved in every step of the game development process including gameplay direction, graphics, world and all dialogue.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will release on Nintendo Switch on November 20 this year! If you preorder the game on the eShop you will receive the Lucky Ladle as an in-game bonus weapon for Link.
