I’m Furryious, Biomutant Has Been Delayed To 2020

Another delay

Does anyone remember the game Biomutant? I don’t blame you if it has slipped your mind given the amount of silence surrounding the project recently. It was originally announced in 2017 (feels much longer than that) and had an initial release date of 2018 before being pushed to ‘2019’. Then in August publisher THQ Nordic revealed the game’s collector’s editions with an accompanying ‘Late 2019’ launch window.

We’re now in the back end of November and still none the wiser as to when we’ll be able to get our hands on Experiment 101’s hotly-anticipated furry hack ‘n’ slash title. At least not officially anyway. But it seems that THQ Nordic’s parent company Embracer Group AB has inadvertently confirmed that Biomutant will not release in 2019 (shock horror), and instead will release in 2020,

The revelation comes via Embracer Group’s Interim Report Q2, July-September 2019, which states that work on Biomutant is finally starting to come to an end, with the team at Experiment 101 in the “final stages of polishing”. The report goes on to mention that a release date announcement should be coming in the near future and that the studio is confident about achieving its lofty ambitions. The bit that stands out is that the report lumps the Biomutant news in with games that will launch “in the next financial year”, which wouldn’t be until July 2020 – a lengthy wait for a game that was initially set to launch in 2018.

Having played Biomutant at PAX Aus 2019 I’m not surprised the game has been delayed, as the build we played lacked a fair amount of polish, either that or it was an older build. As a guessing man I am going to say we’re going to see it release before April 2020, the recent delays to The Last of Us Part II and Watch Dogs Legion would certainly help Biomutant gain some traction in the early months of the year. Like most people, we’re bummed that Biomutant has been delayed once again, but if it makes it a better game, then we’re all for it.

Shoutout to GamePressure for spotting it initially.
