I’m Glad The Oblivion Remaster Character Creator Does Not Disappoint

The game hasn’t been out for a day and it’s already spinning gold

As a spritely young lad, I remember my time house sitting for a family friend. Part of this amazing arrangement was unmitigated access to their Xbox 360 at a time where I did not have the console for myself, and in the hallowed disc tray was a copy of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion – with all its bugs and foibles. I remember painstakingly creating my character to look somewhat like I did at the time (shout out to early-2000’s Chad Kroeger) and then began my journey.

A scant few hours into my incredible adventure, the game crashed and my save file was lost forever. Oh well, no worries, all I have is time so why not remake and re-try. My Chad Kroeger creation attempts were lightning fast and again, I set about escaping prison and becoming the mighty hero I always envisioned.

And it happened a second time.

A third try was attempted, but again I found myself locked out of progress – so I pivoted away from my heroic story, and instead started goofing around in the character creator, creating abominations that would give small children nightmares – much like the following:

And with the release of The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion Remastered, I am deeply pleased to see that such efforts are still alive and well – and now with better access to sharing platforms, we can all bask in their hideous creations:

And so we now enter a glorious new age of the creature feature – with all manner of talented villains abusing those poor sliders to introduce us to their heinous avatars.

It’s amazing. Take a look at this mean menagerie of magnificent masterpieces:

Of course, being a modern release, you might expect that the stability of the game has been improved – so maybe now is the best time for me to actually realise my ambitions of herodom.

But now my conundrum – do I recreate the look of Chad Kroeger past? Or my very own beastly bastard?

Given that the game is available on Game Pass, the answer may well be both.

Yeah, both.

Beastly Chad Kroeger will save us all.
