Developer Tensori has announced that its surreal horror title, POOLS, will be coming to PC VR and PSVR2 in 2025.
Releasing on PC earlier this year, POOLS is a minimalist horror game that uses surreal, liminal spaces to cause dread in the player. A play on the popular online forum concept known as The Backrooms, POOLS sees the player walk through a seemingly neverending series of tiled rooms filled with, you guessed it, pools. It’s difficult to explain, but the game’s excellent sound design and rock-solid resolve not to include cheap scares manage to ratchet up the tension, which will only be heightened when experienced in VR.
The slides and physics-defying elements introduced later in the game will be a test for those with shakey VR legs, but for those up to the task, this is likely to be worth the soggy feet.

We were just as taken by POOLS as many others were, giving it an 8.5 in our review and saying, “POOLS is an impressively immersive and harrowing trudge through waters that threaten to drown you in its high fidelity, unsettling take on the liminal space horror genre.”
