2K and Hangar 13 have dropped the first gameplay trailer for Mafia: The Old Country and announced the game’s August 8 release date for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
The Old Country is the first new Mafia title since 2016’s Mafia III, and is set in 1900s Sicily and follows Enzo Favara as he aims to prove his worth to the Torrisi crime family.
In the press release, Hangar 13 President Nick Baynes says, “Mafia: The Old Country is a focused, linear experience that combines quality storytelling, authentic era immersion and a refined take on the familiar Mafia gameplay.”
Adding to Baynes’ comments, 2K President David Ismailer says, “We’re excited to offer a game like Mafia: The Old Country in our portfolio, and to provide a linear highly-polished narrative experience that can easily complement the other more persistent games our players also love and engage with on a more consistent basis.”
As someone who much prefers shorter, linear story-driven experiences, these comments are music to my ears.
