Marvel’s Wolverine Finally Has A Gameplay Trailer

Wolverine getting up claws and personal

Marvel’s Wolverine has had a rough trot on the road to existence. After a pretty solid buzz-generating reveal, developer Insomniac then suffered a fairly devastating content leak – showing a very raw look behind the curtain at how their particular sausage is made.

And while Insomniac is known for some pretty spectacular superhero sausages, these fillings were far from ready for public viewing. Rabid fans pored over the information in shady corners of the internet and came to draw their own conclusions on what to expect of a game that was barely nascent.

But hey, Insomniac weathered the stupidity storm and have now come through with the real goods: A proper look at what Marvel’s Wolverine intends to be, by way of a stunningly brutal gameplay trailer:

While it is labelled a gameplay trailer, it is clearly a very cinematic piece of media. I have no doubt that the visuals are indicative of what the gameplay may look like, however there is still a lack of regular locomotion and human-driven pottering about. That is still to come, clearly.

But what is shown definitely seems to meet the brief – including the answer to one exceptionally loud question that has echoed around the web since the game was formerly announced:

How bloody will the game be?

The answer? Extremely.

The short trailer is full of blood splattering mess, with dismemberment and even the signature chin-snikt leading to a killer headache.

In fact, some of the folks working on the game managed to follow up with a “Behind the Claws” segment that even mentions how they didn’t think that particular person-perforation would make it into the presentation:

There is still a long way to go for the game, with a speculative Q3/Q4 mention for 2026 – so still plenty of time to see further developments.

But for now, the discussion can at least shift away from unfinished prototypes and stolen placeholders – my fellow comic book and gaming enthusiasts can set our sights on fresher topics, such as “Will Mystique have her skull-belt?” or “Do we actually get to drive the motorcycle?”

Bliss. I can’t wait for more answers.
