The Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, has revealed that Microsoft and Sony have signed an agreement that will see the Call of Duty series stay on PlayStation consoles after the acquisition of Activision Blizzard is complete.
Following Microsoft winning the court case against the FTC, Spencer has taken to Twitter with an announcement that the two gaming giants “signed a binding agreement to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation following the acquisition of Activision Blizzard.” Late last year, similar commitments were made to Nintendo and Steam, but Sony was noticeably absent from the conversation at the time, however, likely thanks to the merger looking like a done deal, the blue brand has finally come to play.
We are pleased to announce that Microsoft and @PlayStation have signed a binding agreement to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation following the acquisition of Activision Blizzard. We look forward to a future where players globally have more choice to play their favorite games.

Despite the acquisition, it looks as though Call of Duty will be staying on Sony consoles for the foreseeable future, but only time can tell. The merger is all but complete at this stage, with the FTC’s attempted appeal being denied, knocking over another hurdle for Microsoft.
