Microsoft Will Be Raising The Price Of Its First-Party Xbox Series X|S Games From 2023

Xbox needs more green

Microsoft has announced that there will be a price increase for first-party Xbox Series X|S games beginning in 2023.

A Microsoft spokesperson confirmed to IGN that games developed specifically for Xbox Series X|S consoles will see an increase from USD $59.99 to USD $69.99 in 2023. The first games to be affected by the change will be Forza Motorsport, Redfall and Starfield, which will all fall under the new pricing structure.

Speaking with IGN, the Microsoft representative stated, “This price reflects the content, scale, and technical complexity of these titles. As with all games developed by our teams at Xbox, they will also be available with Game Pass the same day they launch.”

Though we don’t currently have details on how this will affect Australian pricing, Xbox Series X|S games will likely align with PS5 first-party games at or near the AUD $110-125 mark.

This price hike hasn’t come out of nowhere, as Xbox Head Phil Spencer stated earlier this year that an increase would be likely, but not before the 2022 holiday season.
