Publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and developer Player First Games have announced that the inaugural season for new multiplayer brawler MultiVersus has been delayed and so has the release of characters Rick and Morty.
Originally slated to kick off on August 9, season one has been indefinitely delayed. The Tweet announcing the delay doesn’t give an apparent reason for the delay, but states that the devs want are “dedicated to delivering new and exciting content that delights players.”
Alongside season one, the release of playable characters Rick and Morty have also been pushed back, with Morty scheduled to enter the game at the beginning of the first season.
We want to let everyone know that we are delaying the start of Season 1 & the release of Morty to a later date. We know this might be disappointing for some and want to assure our Community that we are dedicated to delivering new and exciting content that delights players. (2/3)

Despite the delay, MultiVersus is currently available in an open beta across PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC, so you can jump in and play right now. We’ve had our hands on the open beta for a while now and a review will be available soon.
