Nintendo Indie World Showcase December 2021 Recap – OMORI, Chicory, River City Girls 2 And More

A bunch of epic indies and sequels are coming to Switch today and in 2022

Nintendo Indie World Showcases have become the alternate staple to our much-loved Nintendo Directs. Not wanting to be completely silent after The Game Awards, Nintendo gave us one last hurrah to close out this year. Please check out our recap below:

  • The showcase started with a game from the creator of The Messenger. Sea of Stars is a pixel art RPG where you freely traverse a world that you need to protect from monsters as two characters that can create unique magic. Set in the same universe, the game acts as a prequel to The Messenger, but you’re not required to play it to understand what’s going on. Some of the music was composed by Yasunori Mitsuda who composed for Chrono Trigger. Launches Summer 2022.
  • Aliisha – The Oblivion of Twin Goddesses is a puzzle adventure game where cooperation is key in order to navigate a deserted temple. You can play as both players on your own or in co-op multiplayer, with multiple endings for you to discover. Launching as a console exclusive in Autumn 2022.
  • Locomotive is a point-and-click puzzle adventure set on a 1930’s style train that is a murderous ride. Play as a lawyer, a would-be detective and an agent for Her Majesty’s Secret Service who also act as suspects. Releasing Winter 2022.
  • From the creator of Coffee Talk comes a heartfelt adventure After Love. A game about love, making music and learning to love again after tragedy with striking art direction. Winter 2022.
  • Eat and cook monsters in Dungeon Munchies after you are revived from the dead in an eclectic world. Available later today.
  • In Figment 2: Creed Valley, a rhythmic puzzle adventure game where the music adapts as you play. Play solo or locally with a friend. Launching February 2022, a free demo will be available later today.
  • Let’s Play! Oink Games is a collection of tabletop board games by Oink Games: Deep Sea Adventure, Startups, A Fake Artist Goes to New York and Moon Adventure. You can play the games locally with friends or online. More games will be added in the future. Launching as a timed console exclusive right now.
  • Endling – Extinction is Forever follows the life of the last mother fox in a beautiful but tragic isometric adventure in a world ravaged by humans. Protect your three cubs but hunting and teaching them skills to make them less vulnerable as you try to travel to a place free of humans. Available Autumn 2022.
  • Oli Oli World is getting bonus preorder items. Releasing February 8, 2022.
  • River City Girls 2 is an all-new adventure starting the players of the first game and many new features. With six playable characters and new locations, two-player co-op, both local and online, this sequel is shaping up to be more epic and meaner than the acclaimed original. Available Winter 2022.
  • Now for some quick highlights: Parkasaurus (Autumn 2022), Don’t Starve Together (Autumn 2022), Chicory: A Colourful Tale (Available now), Baby Storm (January 21st, 2022), GRIME (Winter 2022), Gerda: A Flame in Winter (2022), Timelie (Full game and demo available today), Behind the Frame: The Finest Scenery (Autumn 2022).
