It’s finally happened. Through a thick, 60-minute Direct showcase, Nintendo has revealed the release date and pricing for the hugely-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 – among a heap of other information.
The big news, though, is that the Nintendo Switch 2 launches worldwide on June 5, 2025. That’s just over two months way!
The console will launch in two flavours, a standard box and then a bundle that also includes a digital copy of Mario Kart World, which was also fully revealed in the Direct. Here’s what each version includes and what it’ll cost in Aussie dollars once it hits stores.
Nintendo Switch 2 Console – $699.95
Includes:
- Nintendo Switch 2 console
- Joy-Con 2 controllers (L+R)
- Joy-Con 2 Grip
- Joy-Con 2 Straps
- Nintendo Switch 2 Dock
- Ultra High-Speed HDMI Cable
- Nintendo Switch 2 AC Adapter
- USB-C Charging Cable
Nintendo Switch 2 Console – Mario Kart World Bundle – $769.95
Includes:

- Joy-Con 2 Grip
- Joy-Con 2 Straps
- Nintendo Switch 2 Dock
- Ultra High-Speed HDMI Cable
- Nintendo Switch 2 AC Adapter

- Digital download code for Mario Kart World
So yeah, this one’s not exactly cheap, but we seemingly come out pretty nicely on conversion against other regions like the US and UK. It’s a bit of a jump compared to the launch price of the original Switch, which was $470. That machine’s managed to hold its value fairly well though, and this is a fairly substantial upgrade with up to 4K or 120FPS visuals, built-in noise cancelling mic, the new Joy-Con 2 controllers, a more advanced dock and a bunch more.
What do you think of the Switch 2’s grand reveal and Aussie pricing? Is this one you’ll be picking up on launch day? Let us know in the comments below or over on social media!
