Overwatch 2’s Newest Season Brings Us A Mythic Hanzo Skin And Killer Clowns

A truly cursed season of spookies

Overwatch 2: The Rise of Darkness is set to drop its scary self on the October 11, and with it comes a massive medley of macabre goodies.

The Halloween event promises a massive crossover with the Diablo side of Blizzard lore, with a game mode known as ‘Trials of Sanctuary’ that pits our heroes against the forces of hell. A Diablo-themed cast of characters will be holding the line, with Demon Hunter Sombra, Barbarian Zarya, Night Raven Illari, Cleric Lifeweaver, Imperious Reinhardt, and Inarius Pharah facing Azmodan Wrecking Ball, Butcher Roadhog and the delightfully devilish Lilith Moira.

Some of these looks are old news, but the newer ones are an awesome testament to the gorgeous visual style of Diablo – Imperius Reinhardt being a particular favourite. The other Halloween skins are a bit more traditional, with an undead nurse Mercy and an IT-inspired spooky Clown 76 among others.

Hanzo will also suit up in his first Mythic Skin option, the demonic Onryō Hanzo looks straight from the depths of hell – rocking a very Eastern-inspired devil look.

Away from the spookier stuff, we also have a new map in the form of Samoa. A beachfront location that will see you fighting inside of an active volcano, which doesn’t sound particularly workplace safe.

There is also a rework coming for Sombra, in the hopes of making her slightly less irritating to deal with. With shifts to her translocator and stealth mechanic, the hacker will hopefully move beyond being a mosquito like presence on the battlefield.

There is a lot to take in with this season, but for those fanging for frightful fun you will be in for a treat (or trick).
