The full trailer for the latest season of Overwatch 2 is here, and it’s a classic cartoon special – a hilarious mix of Power Rangers meets Kamen Rider meets all the best Japanese TV shows that made their way overseas.
With a wide spread of crazy themed skins, new lifeguard options and even the return of Pink Mercy, it ends with a teaser for some transforming robots that are reasonably well known.
The seasonal game modes promised for this season also come with a special twist, given that they are apparently tested and balanced by famous players to remix and change existing heroes – including a unique game mode where players can actually pick their characters passive.
This season also features the first time we have had a choice between Mythic quality cosmetics! The trailer showcases a wicked villain skin for Ashe in the form of Calamity Empress – but then offers the first ever Mythic Weapon option in the form of the Bound Demon, a hammer for Reinhardt. Given that Mythic unlocks now work via unlocking currency, it means that this will be showdown within the mythic game store, with players saving their pocket money and choosing which one most excites them.
For me? Reinhardt. The lovable lug deserves every trinket and toy.
Then, the very end of the trailer has a rapid teaser where the Overwatch logo literally transforms into the Autobot logo from Transformers, meaning the latest collaboration will have to include the robots in some way. Optimus Prime Reinhardt? Megatron Ramattra?
Starscream Pharah?
My mind reels, as I am a long time Transformers fan – so bring it on. Show me what you got, Blizzard X Hasbro.
