Overwatch 2 dropped a new feature recently, and with it came a familiar villainous face – that of Maximilien, the Omnic businessman that is known for his affiliation with Talon and that one time we had to capture him. He’s a fan favourite figure, given he is one of the few baddies that has appeared in cinematics but is not yet playable — so people are excited to see him again.
Only the context of his appearance is a little odd, given that he seems to just serve as a personalised discount centre for the Overwatch 2 cosmetic store.

Essentially, each week a player can enter this portion of the store and flip over some cards to get curated discounts – “exclusively” for them. Some of these discounts can be for a whopping amount – I have seen a discount of 43% for example – and are apparently meant to offer skins for characters that you, the player, use.
There is just one issue.
The skins on offer seem entirely random, and maybe even deeply cooked:

So it’s an odd duck. On one hand, the price of Overwatch 2 cosmetics are an unending pain point, so discounts are great – but it is an odd delivery method, wrapped up in a disappointing reappearance of a long-time baddy, so it’s a hard sell for even diehard players. Like any system, it is likely to get some tweaks – but people are definitely hoping this isn’t the best (and only) appearance of Maximilien players will get.
